After their cohabitation of more than 10 years becoming complicated, a boyfriend to prominent Kampala tiktoker Charlotte Komugisha Muhwezi has rushed to court and applied for a protection order.
Sources close to the tiktok queen say that the boyfriend a few days ago filed his protection application in court through his Kenyan lawyer by the names of Robert Ebubura. Since money is not her problem, Charlotte has hired Kampala lawyers Victor Munyagaba and Paul Zzimbe to help her blunt the estranged boyfriend’s application.
Court records, which are publicly accessible because Kampala courts are always open, show that the applicant is requesting the judge to grant a protection order restraining Komugisha Charlotte Muhwezi “from committing any acts of domestic violence, intimidation, harassments, threats, stalking and surveillance against the applicant [boyfriend].”
The applicant is also seeking for court help for the “removal and exclusion” of Charlotte from the his residence in the Kampala suburb of Makindye so that the cohabitation boyfriend, with whom they have three school-going children, can have “exclusive occupation, possession and quiet enjoyment” of his own home, to which the jobless Charlotte didn’t contribute anything.
The boyfriend is also seeking a court order barring Charlotte from ever coming anywhere near the home, his place of work or anywhere else he might be. He is also asking court to generally prohibit her from ever coming in the proximity of any of the places the boyfriend ordinarily frequents.
The estranged boyfriend is also seeking a court order restraining the tik tok queen Charlotte from making or attempting to make any contact to him either directly or through other people. This covers things like sending him a text or WhatsApp message or even communicating to him through relatives and mutual friends.
It equally applies to making any phone calls to him directly or through anyone else close to him. Sources close to Charlotte say that the boyfriend is simply sick and tired of the quarrelsome tik talker.
The boyfriend is also asking court to direct the officer in charge of the police station nearest to the home, to enforce the immediate removal and exclusion of the chaotic tik talker from the applicant’s residence.
The boyfriend asserts that their intimate relationship has irretrievably broken down and doesn’t want anything to do with Charlotte anymore.
All he now wants is personal peace for himself and their three children, which can only be guaranteed after she has been forcefully removed and excluded from him home or anywhere near him. He adds that he has been emotionally abused and mistreated for too long.
He accuses her of forcefully imposing herself on to his home even when she has no lawful claim on the same. Its his home which he established with his own sweat, without her making any contribution to the same. He claims he has also suffered death threats besides the stalking, surveillance and other acts of intimidation.
One of the documents on the Makindye public court file shows that “the respondent (Charlotte) has openly threatened to kill the applicant (boyfriend) if he proceeds with the divorce petition or attempts to remove her from his home, and she has been acting through accomplices (fellow tik talkers) to reinforce those threats.”
The dully filed and sealed court documents add that; “the respondent has threatened to kill the applicant by poisoning his food, burning him in his sleep and or by pouring acid on his face if she can not find money to hire murderers.”
It adds that “the applicant has a well founded, reasonable and imminent apprehension of danger to life, safety and mental wellbeing. The continued presence of the respondent in the applicant’s home exposes him to grave risk, intimidation and irreparable harm. In the interest of justice, court orders should be respected and those who disregard them be held accountable.”
At a recent open court hearing, the boyfriend’s lawyer pleaded with the magistrate to consider and treat this application urgently because the chaos at the home has grown to the level that one of the two former cohabitees might kill the other in case of any provocative conduct.
The violated boyfriend’s case and experience has ignited debate among Kampala elites focusing on the growing prevalence of domestic injustices that women continue orchestrating against men while at the same time playing victimhood.
There are growing calls that the government designs interventions aimed at protecting and emancipating men who are being persecuted by the female gender.
In the instant case, Charlotte has continued using her powerful online presence through tik tok to keep tormenting the father of her children who she keeps saying is a very bad person yet she isn’t prepared to let him go.
She has repeatedly wronged him during their cohabitation period to the extent of contradicting high blood pressure, which is an incurable condition, yet she has the guts to go telling everyone how he is a monstrous person, whereas not.
In order to get back his personal peace from her, the boyfriend has during mediation gone as far as offering to buy for her a house and supplement all that with some money to enable her comfortably move on but the tik tok queen has unreasonably rejected all that simply because she wants endless chaos.
Family members and her own close friends are now convinced that Charlotte doesn’t want a solution to ever be found to the very chaotic situation she has personally created.
