A whistle blower has petitioned the IGG demanding for action to force the former Uganda national drug authority UNDA chairman Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo to surrender and bring back the organization’s double cabin reg no UA009AL, which is white in color.
It had been assigned to him in his capacity as head of UNDA but he hasn’t been in a hurry to bring it back after his term ended on 20th Feb after holding the position for 9 years, since 2017.
The whistle blower says that the driver Dandasi Asiimwe, an employee of UNDA, has continued doing Dr. Medard’s errands including using the Authority double cabin to deliver inputs and other supplies to his former boss’s farm in Rukungiri and private businesses in Mbarara city where the former chairman has commercial buildings.
The whistle blower wants the IGG to investigate and punish the driver Asiimwe for using the organization’s car and fuel plus maintenance services at the pre-qualified garages, to go and do private work of his former principal.
The whistle blower says that during his time as UNDA chairman, Dr. Medard made very good money and bought personal cars including a land cruiser that was purchased recently and wonders why he doesn’t use those and leave the government car alone.
The whistle blower also says that it’s illegal for the government driver Dandasi Asiimwe to continue doing work for Dr. Medard weeks after he stopped to be the UNDA chairman. The whistle blower requests the IGG to investigate why Asiimwe accepted to be sent to go to the police crime intelligence offices in Kololo this week on Monday to deliver a written application helping Dr. Medard to ask for personal security, yet he is no longer his boss following the end of his contract as the UNDA chairman.
Dr. Medard very much wanted to be reappointed as the UNDA chairman but the move was halted by the IGG who wrote two letters directing the ministry of health to put everything on hold until the scandals surrounding the reappointment have fully been investigated.
