A cash bonanza of some sort has erupted inside Uganda national drug authority (UNDA) after information emerged that one of the officials from the organization’s procurement unit was recently conned of Ugx200m.
After pocketing a fat commission from a certain supplier, the manager in question rang his favorite land broker in Namugongo. He instructed him to get for him land which he said he was ready to pay for immediately.
He was led to the land and because he had a lot of money which he didn’t even know what to do with it, the UNDA official paid immediately without doing due diligence on the land.
Days later, it became clear he had bought air because the guys he bought from were conmen who had no right to sell the land in question.
A search at the land office conducted by a lawyer revealed that the land title the PDU member was given was actually a fake one made from Kampala’s Nasser Road printing hub.
The land brokers switched off their phones and from their respective hideouts, they threatened to expose the UNDA manager for being filthily rich with many other pieces of land and houses, if he didn’t back off.
They assured him of readiness to expose him on social media and to the IGG as a filth rich middle level civil servant. They said they would expose the photographs of his posh cars, houses, kids, wives and girlfriends.
This forced the UNDA procurement unit official to back off and accept that his Ugx200m had been eaten, just like that.
On hearing about the Namugongo rip off, one of the owners of the pre-qualified garages, from where UNDA’s vehicles are serviced, reached out and offered the official a consolation package of Ugx165m.
The grateful UNDA official used this cash to buy a posh Toyota vehicle for his luxury enjoyment and made it clear to some of his workmates that he was tired of fake land deals.
He stated that from now onwards, each time he makes a deal and gets a good kickback, his priority will be to buy a posh luxury vehicle to expand the fleet of vehicles in his compound, besides flying his family to Dubai for luxury holidays.
In a related development, another official from UNDA’s quality management department recently made a deal and pocketed Ugx700m, which she used to buy a brand new house on one of the hills surrounding Kampala’s plush neighborhood of Lubowa, along Entebbe airport road.
The female manager moved into the new Lubowa home last month and its where she now lives with her elderly boyfriend who also works at UNDA.
The female manager left Mutundwe hill in Rubaga division where she had been renting a big house for some good years.
The elderly boyfriend’s wife, upon learning about this, went to the church of Uganda bishop of their home area and reported everything.
The bishop has been trying to mediate but it has not been easy because the female manager says the elderly boyfriend is too sweet and she isn’t prepared to let him go.
The female manager has also previously been romantically linked to other male workmates at UNDA and is well known for using thigh power to get what she wants from male superiors.
She was known for her generosity even at former work place on the shores of Lake Victoria. She is officially single, having badly fallen out with an expatriate from one of the neighboring countries over infidelity accusations, some few years ago.
The female manager is now trying to get a bank loan to put up rental apartments in her other vacant plot next to her new Lubowa residence. Last week, she started on the process of filing loan application forms.
